Recently I released a prophetic word that the Lord gave to me titled 747 It’s Time for Take Off. If you haven’t had a chance to watch that video I encourage you to do so. In that post I discussed how the Lord is taking us higher during this season and that we have transitioned into a new place of blessings, promises and promotion. It is so amazing to know that the dreams that God has given to us are getting ready to manifest in our lives. With that said we still must prepare and commit ourselves to our assignments and tasks inorder to see God’s promises come to pass in our lives. Otherwise we will be ill-prepared for what he is releasing to us and as a result we will miss out on our opportunities to prosper. So I thought it would be fitting to discuss some practical keys to creating success in the areas that God has called us to, so let’s chat about Are You Ready for Success?
Being excited about something is not enough. You must also know what you are doing. Don’t rush into something, or you might do it wrong. Proverbs 19:2
I love how the word of God gives us such simple instructions. Sometimes I think we try to understand scripture like it’s a foreign math problem that we’ve never seen before. But honestly if we just read it and take it for exactly what it says we would be much less confused about how we are to apply it to our lives. Just look at Proverbs 19:2, it simply tells us that being excited about doing something is not enough to make us successful at accomplishing it. We must actually know how to do what we set out to do inorder to make it happen. That is such a basic principle but truthfully it has flown right over my head so many times throughout my life. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve become excited about a new venture just for it to fail because I did not have the capacity to build or manage what I had started. Meaning I either did not have the education, experience or tenacity for what I set out to achieve or I didn’t do my research. I did not take the time to instill within myself what was needed to accomplish my goal. So how can we know if we are ready to take hold of what God is releasing to us? Let’s take a look at some simple signs.
Signs We Are NOT Ready for Success
- Do not know what the assignment is.
- Don’t have the knowledge or the know how to do it.
- Inconsistent in taking action.
- Unsure of the specific steps needed to achieve goal.
- Do not have a plan.
- Allowing fear to overwhelm us.
- Lack of resources, connections, education and experience.
- No clarity or direction.
- No desire to achieve the goal.
Signs We Are Ready for Success
- Have a detailed plan mapped out.
- Have been consistent in taking steps toward plan.
- Has previously been successful in accomplishing a long-term goal.
- Have a full understanding of what we are setting out to accomplish.
- Fully dedicated to completing assignment.
- Enthusiastic about the journey and the outcome.
- Thorough in our work.
- Devoted in producing excellence in what we do.
- Have developed skills and tools we need for success.
- We have peace and confidence that we are following the Holy Spirit in what we’re doing.
Those are some easy signs to help us determine how prepared we are for what we need to do. So if we aren’t quite as ready as we need to be for success, what can we do to change that? The word of God gives us all the instruction that we need to tackle any assignments that we may have, so let’s see what the Bible has to say.
Integrity will lead you to success and happiness, but treachery will destroy your dreams.
Proverbs 11:3 TPT
Integrity – 1. The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. 2. The state of being whole and undivided.
Treachery – 1. Betrayal of trust; deceptive action or nature.
The Bible tells us that having “integrity leads us to success and happiness but treachery destroys our dreams.” When we read the definitions of those two key words we can see how profound this simple instruction is. The scripture is letting us know that to be successful and happy we must have good qualities. Be honest and follow the moral principles of God. In doing so we will be able to walk upright and live in a perpetual state of wholeness. But that same scripture also shows us that being dishonest and deceptive will destroy our dreams! This is what I meant when I said that if we simply take God’s word for what it says we can easily see how to apply it to our lives.
Normally I would continue to discuss more scriptures on the topic of success. But this time I would like to challenge you to study more about achieving success in the word of God rather than on my blog. Because we all need to build a deeper and more intimate connection with our father personally. So here’s what I want you to do this week. Take 15 minutes to study about success in your Bible. All you have to do is type the word success in the search box in your Bible app and read each scripture that pops up and coincides with this discussion. Then write down 10 scriptures that stand out to you. Then single out the 10 basic principles in those scriptures that instruct you on how to achieve success. Lastly, all I want you to do is follow them. Literally make a conscious effort to practice those 10 things everyday for 10 days. If you need to, post it up in a place where you can see it as a reminder. Do whatever works best for you. After the 10 days is up, go back and evaluate your progress in the area where you applied the principles to your life. I assure you, that God’s word will not fail you!
