Signs God is Transitioning You Into a New Place

Recently the Lord gave me a prophetic word to release about his “New Agreement”. If you have not had a chance to read that post, I encourage you to do so. I pray that it will be a blessing to you. That word was originally the inspiration for this post. But then the Lord gave me a dream on December 1, 2020 and it is in direct relation to this topic. Therefore, I know that I am to share it with you.

In this dream my husband, myself and our children were in a new apartment. We had just been moved into this new place because there was some sort of issue with our old apartment. In the dream it was night time which indicates that there is a lack of understanding in this particular area. In the dream we knew that we could not move back to our old place but we could not decide whether the new place was a temporary move or if it was supposed to be permanent, then I woke up. After studying scripture and praying to God about the dream he revealed the interpretation of the dream to me.

I knew that the Lord was saying that we have entered into a new season of blessings and promises. The old man and old life has passed away. But many of us have been living as though we are still in the old place, the old season! He is requiring for us to make a permanent decision to remain in the “new”, to let go of the “old” and to come into alignment in this new place! When you have time take a look at Matthew 13, Numbers 10, 2 Corinthians 5 and Isaiah 43. The word of God should always be the foundation of anything that we speak or receive on behalf of God.

Then Jesus said to the followers, “So every teacher of the law who has learned about God’s kingdom has some new things to teach. He is like the owner of a house. He has new things and old things saved in that house. And he brings out the new with the old.”
Matthew 13:52 ERV

The Lord’s cloud was over them every day. And when they left their camp every morning, the cloud was there to lead them.
Numbers 10:34 ERV

When anyone is in Christ, it is a whole new world. The old things are gone; suddenly, everything is new!
2 Corinthians 5:17 ERV

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18‭-‬19 NKJV

Walking into the new territory that God has laid out before us can be intimidating at first glance. Sometimes it can even be a challenge to perceive when a transition is taking place in our lives. So I thought it would be helpful to take a look at some telltale signs that God is leading us into something new, let’s chat.

1. Dead Things Dry Up.

Okay so I love plants, pretty much all things green. Trees, flowers, grass is all so very beautiful to me. But honestly I really suck at taking care of them and keeping them alive. (I love animals too and I’m much better with them lol). But seriously, I’ve even managed to kill succulents, so…. But, the one thing I’ve always noticed is that when my plants are starting to die the leaves start to dry up and turn brown first, eventually the whole plant dies. That is how it is in all of the dead areas of our lives. At first glance it just seems like things are a little dry in a certain area of our lives. But soon it becomes apparent that the place of dryness is actually dying. The key is to recognize it early and to transition into the new thing that is being birthed from the old thing.

2. The Old Places and People Just Don’t Do It For You Anymore.

Remember when you could hang out with almost anyone as long as they were into what you were into? It was so easy to link up with folks who you knew weren’t really good for you because they were doing what you enjoyed doing, or maybe they were connected to someone who was. Either way, you went where you wanted to and you did whatever you wanted to do and it was all good. Then you got older and something changed. Or maybe you developed a closer relationship with Christ and came into your true identity in Jesus. And suddenly you realized that you just aren’t the person that you used to be! Now those people, places and things that you used to do, now rub you the wrong way, they don’t set well with your spirit or maybe they just downright disgust you at times. Yes, all of that is just as it should be. You aren’t who you used to be and you can no longer behave like you once did, and it shows. Can’t really ignore the foolishness of the world around you anymore? Congratulations you can no longer dumb yourself down. You MUST shift, and shift you will! Now you can transition into a better inner circle and have good connections with those who are meant to be in relationship with you. You can now learn to enjoy those things that you were made to do, are passionate about and have always dreamt of doing.

3. You Sense God Has Moved.

This goes hand in hand with things drying up. Things will always die when God’s presence is absent. But there are times when we can literally feel that God no longer has his hand in a certain area of lives. It is not that he is no longer there, it is just that he has his hand in a different area and we are to recognize it and to move with him. We definitely are not to attempt to work harder at making the old area operate as it used to.  That is when we bring unnecessary challenges into our lives. Because we choose to ignore what God is saying to us.  We want to force our way instead of trusting in Jesus.

4.  No Matter How Hard You Try, Nothing is Working.

As I just stated, we can’t force our way into God’s promises.  We can only transition with him into what he is doing.  If we continue trying to make things work on our own nothing good will come from it.  In fact soon we will find ourselves becoming more and more burnt out.  Not only will we not have success in the areas where we are striving, but we won’t have the energy to put forth toward the areas we are called to.  For example: Let’s say you’ve spent several years in a relationship with someone you love. And although you have poured your heart, time and effort into building this relationship, you just can’t seem to take things to the next level.  No matter how hard you try, how long you wait or how hard you work at it, your efforts always seem to be in vain.  Maybe things are going great in one moment but then suddenly things seem to be taken 10 steps backwards and you’re left wondering when things are going to happen for you?  In this scenario it would be wise to take a step back and evaluate your relationship and your actions.  Are you trying to force God’s hand to be somewhere it is not?  If so, you will eventually find that even if you remain in that old place, you won’t ever have the promise that God had for you in your relationship because his hand is not in it.  You will always have to work harder than you should to make the relationship work. And you will miss the opportunity to be where God was waiting for you to come to, to receive the real blessing that he had for you.  This is just one simple example, but it can be applied to anything else, a job, a friendship, etc.

5.  What You Are Drawn to is Not Where You Currently Are.

One easy sign that it is time to transition is that your passion lies somewhere else.  If you love doing makeup but you don’t live in an area where people demand makeup artists then you are going to have a hard time getting work in your area.  If you love acting but you don’t live anywhere near a theatre, acting studio or other actors, it may be challenging for you to expand in your gift. True you can find other ways to go about pursuing your dream but why not consider relocating to where your gift is needed? You would find it much easier to do what you love if you put yourself in an environment that supports what you do.

These are just a few simple signs to help you discern when you are transitioning into a new place and a new season.  I pray that this post was helpful to you and that you will look deeper at the signs that God is showing you, so that you will always be where his presence is in your life.  Until our next chat, be blessed.
