The Wind and the Fire Are Coming!

In a recent dream. I was standing in a house with my husband and my children.  Through a window we could see a fire tornado off in the distance.  It was daytime but there was a large cloud of darkness above the storm.  My husband and I grabbed our children and ran down into the basement for safety. Then I woke up.  This dream was short and direct.  It is absolutely a warning dream that I felt an urgency to release.  Let’s take a look at the symbols and their meanings so that we can get a good understanding of what God is saying in this dream.  Then we will continue with an in-depth look at scripture that is in direct correlation with  the dream.  The Lord is warning us of what is to come but he is also giving us divine instruction so that we can be prepared.

Dream symbols:

House- oneself, personality, character, heart.

  • Fire – God’s presence. Trial, persecution. Power. Holy Spirit. Anger or judgement/punishment.
  • Tornado (whirlwind) – Powerful move in the Spirit, good or bad.
  • Clouds – Heavenly manifestation; glory, pretense of God. Dark time of travel, fear, trouble, or storms of life. Hiddenness of God. A time of storm or difficulty.
  • Darkness – Absence of light. Without spiritual direction; absence of the pretense of God; lack of understanding.  A place without the revelation of God, or where evil is celebrated.
  • Children (offspring) – gifts, fruits of labor, product of your body.
  • Window – Revelation knowledge, prophecy, prophetic gifting, gaining insight.
  • Basement – Foundation, refuge, a place of storage, Christ, Word of God.

In the first part of the dream my family and I are looking through the window, out into the distance we can see the fire tornado coming. This shows us that the storm is coming from afar, it is not an immediate threat but is close enough to see.  The tornado is a representation of punishment that is coming upon the earth.  The fire is a representation of the Holy Spirit and the power of God’s glory and judgement. The window is a representation of prophetic revelation.  It is a view into the spirit realm.

We could see the clouds of darkness hovering over the fire.  The darkness represents a time of trial that the fire of God will bring.

In the next part of the dream we grabbed our children.  Our children represent our family but also our gifts and the fruit of our labor.  We ran with them to the basement.

The basement is the foundation of our house (ourselves), it is what our home (heart) is built on.  The basement is a representation of Christ and the Word of God.

Let’s go through scripture and get a clearer understanding of what the Lord is communicating to us. There are several scriptures in the Bible that show us why the Lord was angry with his people in the past, and what he did to correct his children before. This will help us to see how the message he gave us then is the same message he is giving us now.

Psalms 11 says: 1 I trust (the NASB version says take refuge) in the Lord, so why did you tell me to run and hide? Why did you say, “Fly like a bird to your mountain?” 2 Like hunters, the wicked hide in the dark. They get their bows ready and aim their arrows. They shoot at good, honest people. 3 What would good people do if the wicked destroyed all that is good (the foundations)? 4 The Lord is in his holy temple. The Lord sits on his throne in heaven. He sees everything that happens. He watches people closely. 5 The Lord examines those who are good and those who are wicked; he hates those who enjoy hurting others. 6 He will make hot coals and burning sulfur fall like rain on the wicked. They will get nothing but a hot, burning wind. 7 The Lord always does what is right, and he loves seeing people do right. Those who live good lives will be with him.”

This scripture tells us that there were wicked people who were hiding in the dark, harming those that were good. They were hurting God’s people but the Lord saw it all while sitting on his throne. And he hates those that are evil and violent. So he vindicated his children by sending a direct storm upon the wicked. As it was then, so is it now!

Take a look at Isaiah 29:6 “From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise. With whirlwind and tempest and the flame of consuming fire.”

Two other scriptures also refer to the anger of God coming forth as an all consuming fire in Isaiah 66:15 and Hebrews 12:2-28.

Isaiah 66:15 says: Upon the wicked he shall rain snares of fire and brimstone, with winds of whirlwinds: this shall be the portion of their cup.

Hebrews 12:25-28 tells us this: 25 Be careful and don’t refuse to listen when God speaks. Those people refused to listen to him when he warned them on earth. And they did not escape. Now God is speaking from heaven. So now it will be worse for those who refuse to listen to him. 26 When he spoke before, his voice shook the earth. But now he has promised, “Once again I will shake the earth, but I will also shake heaven.” 27 The words “once again” clearly show us that everything that was created will be destroyed—that is, the things that can be shaken. And only what cannot be shaken will remain. 28 So we should be thankful because we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And because we are thankful, we should worship God in a way that will please him. We should do this with respect and fear, 29 because our God is like a fire that can destroy us.

The amazing thing about the Lord is that he always gives us safety, even in the midst of the storm! In my dream he showed us running into the basement, the foundation, the place of refuge in him! The lord is telling us to run to him, hide ourselves and our loved one’s deep in prayer, in communication and intimacy with him and to dive deeper into his Word. His Word is our safe place from the storm! Let us read 1 Corinthians 3:10.

1 Cor 3:10: “Like an expert builder I built the foundation of that house. I used the gift that God gave me to do this. Other people are building on that foundation. But everyone should be careful how they build.”

Our foundation is Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 3:11 tells us: “The foundation that has already been built is Jesus Christ, and no one can build any other foundation.”

Our place of repentance, righteousness, prayer, studying and obeying God’s Word and continuously seeking to be like Jesus is where our safety lies.  There is no safe place outside of the foundational teachings of Christ.  Without them we will not survive!

1 Corinthians 3:12- 17 goes on to explain: 12 People can build on that foundation using gold, silver, jewels, wood, grass, or straw. 13 But the work that each person does will be clearly seen, because the Day will make it plain. That Day will appear with fire, and the fire will test everyone’s work. (Remember it was daytime in my dream, the wicked hide in darkness, so the word is telling us that the Lord’s day of fire will show the actions of everyone!) 14 If the building they put on the foundation still stands, they will get their reward. 15 But if their building is burned up, they will suffer loss. They will be saved, but it will be like someone escaping from a fire. 16 You should know that you yourselves are God’s temple. God’s Spirit lives in you. 17 If you destroy God’s temple, God will destroy you, because God’s temple is holy. You yourselves are God’s temple.

1 Corinthians 3:23: And you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

This is what I believe the Lord wants to warn his people of in this dream. He is bringing judgment and punishment to the wicked.  His anger will be like an all consuming fire that will destroy those who have been secretly and also blatantly harming and killing his people.  Those who feel as though they are untouchable will perish.  Now is the time to run into his place of safety and refuge by diving deeply into his Word, by increasing our prayer and intercessory time with him.  Take the gifts and blessings that God has given to you and use them in the way that he instructs you right now.  There is change coming!  The Lord never tears something down without replacing it with something new.

Isaiah 66:6-9 “Listen! There is a loud noise coming from the city and from the Temple. It is the Lord punishing his enemies. He is giving them the punishment they deserve. “A woman does not give birth before she feels the pain. A woman must feel the pain of childbirth before she can see the boy she gives birth to. Who ever heard of such a thing? In the same way, no one ever saw a new world begin in one day. No one has ever heard of a new nation that began in one day. But when Zion feels the pain, she will give birth to her children. In the same way, I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born.” The Lord says this: “I promise that if I cause you the pain of birth, I will not stop you from having your new nation.” Your God said this.”

If we were to continue to read Isaiah 66 we would see that the Lord goes on to speak about his anger and wrath that will be released upon the wicked, while simultaneously describing the promises and rewards that he will pour out upon his children.  So we can see that although God is warning us of his coming punishment, he is also reassuring us of his love and kindness towards those who will faithfully and diligently seek after him and obey him.  Those of us who are choosing daily to place Christ as the foundation of our lives will be protected from what is to come. Until our next chat, be blessed.
